Egg in a Heart - Easy Valentine's Breakfast

Looking for an easy way to get Valentine's Day (or any day) started?  Try this tasty breakfast that is  my son's favorites.  Not only is it cute, but it's delicious, too.  I haven't made it in a month or two (and plan to make it for Valentine's morning), so I don't have any pictures to show you.  But, I'm sure you'll get the gist!

Egg in a Heart

Ingredients:
  • 1 piece of bread
  • 1 egg
  • Shredded cheese
  • Margarine or butter
  • 1 heart shaped cookie cutter
Directions:
  1. Spray a frying pan with Pam.  Turn on medium heat.
  2. Beat egg in a bowl or small glass.
  3. Using the heart shaped cookie cutter, cut a heart shape out of the middle of the bread.  Butter both pieces.
  4. Place both pieces (butter side down) on the warm pan.  Press the pieces down with a spatula so they get a nice seal with the pan.  Let cook for 30 seconds or so.
  5. Pour egg slowly into the heart-shaped hole in the bread (don't worry if a little bit seeps under the bread... It's all good!)
  6. Cover the pan with a lid.  Let cook for 4 minutes or so, until egg is set.
  7. Sprinkle egg with shredded cheese, cover with the heart-shaped piece of bread, and cook until cheese is melted (usually no more than a minute!).
  8. Enjoy!  It's like love on a plate!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!
